UN Law
All members of the United Nations must agree to this law or will be terminated from the UN and not allowed back in.
This law must be followed: If another area is in great need of help, the UN powers must act upon the help. They must send troops into the area and help secure it from the enemies. If more then 1’000 people die by another power people send troops to help.

The table and hyenas
How do these stories change or challenge stereo-typical views of refugees?
It makes me feel bad because I have heard people make fun of people in Somalia. If people knew how hard their lives are in somalia they would stop saying such mean things to people in somalia that come here.

Rwandan Genocide.
Review Questons:
1) In what ways did genocide impact the development of this developing country? It impacted it by having no government to run hospitals, schools, shelters, food, or factories. Public utilities such as phones, electricity and water were not functioning. Most of the people that were in charge were either killed or fled to neighboring countries. Many lost family members, villages were destroyed, children were left alone.
2) Where does the rebuilding of a country shattered by genocide begin? What can the people do? What can the government do? What can the international community do? July of 1994 they start rebuilding. The government helps by making a fund to support survivors and a Human Rights Commission to ensure all people in Rwanda get the rights they're entitled to. The people should come together as a unity and not enemies. The international community can have a fund in all of their countries to raise money for Rwanda.
3) How can justice be found in post genocide Rwanda? It can be found by having other countries try and support and help build a legal system for Rwanda. Absolutely no classing should be involved in the government. Schooling, protection, shelter, good water.
4) Which can bring justice to the people of Rwanda more effectively international courts or community courts? Explain. International for sure, if they let community they might end up causing another class system. Which might just end up being the same thing all over again.
Discussion Questions:
1) When did UN officials receive warnings about the genocide? Three months before the genocide.
2) Besides the warning given by one of the planners, what were other warning signs of the genocide? Major General Romeo Dallaire, the training of militia in Rwanda was conducted in the open. They distributed weapons like guns and machetes openly. They sponsored hate propaganda throughout schools, radio, and newspapers. Death lists were developed.
3) How did state sponsored propaganda present the Tutsi group? It presented them as evil people who were cockroaches and snakes and who's ultimate goal was to regain power and mistreat the hutu. They also said you had to shorten people, which in other words is to kill them.
4) What prevented the international community from calling the violence in Rwanda "genocide"? What would have happened if they had? They had the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. Which had said "Legal obligation under which the international community would be legally obligated to intervene and stop the violence, if genocide were found to be occurring in the world. If they had prevented the violence, things might actually be somewhat controllable in Africa, but the UN can't help someone in need, even though that's why we developed the UN is to protect.
5) Once the international community withdrew its troops, what did the militia decide to do? The militia had started the genocide as soon as the troops were withdrawn. They targeted resisters and officials who opposed the genocide
6) Who does President Clinton say must share responsibility for the genocide. He said the international community and nations in Africa, should share responsibility and also said the UN did not help.

Tiananmen Square
Imperialism 21st Century.
China has a lot of issues involving Imperialism, since they refused they have fallen behind of Europeans. There is a lot they need to do in order to get in line and not fall out of it.
Since the 17th century the rulers refused western ways. Because of that they have fallen behind in technology. Late 1800’s they had started trading opium, they tried to stop imports of the drug. 1839 the british fought with the chinese in the opium war, britain’s superior and strength led to a victory.
Treaty of Nanjing. 1842 britain forced China to agree to the terms of the treaty, china had to pay for britain’s war cost, open ports for british trades, and give britain the island of Hong Kong. Western powers carved the spheres of influence, they are area in which outside power claimed exclusive trade involved build roads, railroads, factories.
Reaction to Imperialism. The Taiping Rebellion, lasted from 1850 - 1864 peasants revolted against Qing officials. Boxer Rebellion. In 1900 the group the boxers assaulted communities across China. Armies from the west and Japan destroyed the rebellion and forced the chinese to give even more influence in China.
WWII. The civil war ceased to fight the Japanese forces. The communist and Nationalist fight against the Japanese. Then the Civil war continued.
The Cultural Revolution. 1966, Mao wanted to renew peoples loyalty to communism. Mao feared people may try to overthrow it, schools and universities were shut down. Students formed groups of fighters, they attacked professors, government officials, and factory managers.
Mao died in 1976 and Deng Xiaoping took power, brought more economic freedom but political change.
Deng’s Four Modernizations, Deng promoted foreign trade. He introduced the four modernizations, Farming - Modernize and Mechaniz.
Industry - Upgrade and expand.
Science and Technology - Encouraged development.
Defense - improve military forces.
Deng got rid of the communes, he allowed lang to be leased to individual farmers. After giving some food to the government the farmers could sell it for a profit, Private businesses were allowed to produce goods.
Tiananmen Square, Chinese government was willing to grant economic reforms. Unwilling to make any political reforms though, May 1989. Demanding more rights, they refused to disperse as ordered. Thousands were killed.
China has been having a downfall since day 1, they start battles they can’t win. They produce a ton of produce and do not sell it, they keep it for themselves, they have a lot of problems with other countries. They need to get back on track because going to the right of the track was a bad idea for them, if they were to stop communism and have a different political choice we would probably help them. Hopefully they will accept our help, and we can become allies later on then no one would have any chance compared to our military. The odds of us becoming allies with China is very low because they do not enjoy our presence anywhere near them. If we don’t do something about China I have a feeling they will come over here and attack us, if they were to attack us. They would have a very good chance of destroying our military because theres is a lot bigger then ours.
That is my opinion on the Tiananmen square movement.

Justification on Dalits.
From what I saw from the video, they seemed to just not care. Or at least not show any emotion to the fact that they are treated like dirt. Like when the little girl said "I clean poop all day!" And she seemed so happy, but it is really sad. She grew up knowing, all of the kids above her cannot touch her, walking in her house anything. Its really sad, maybe one day someone will speak up in india and change it.
