Tiananmen Square

Imperialism 21st Century.
China has a lot of issues involving Imperialism, since they refused they have fallen behind of Europeans. There is a lot they need to do in order to get in line and not fall out of it.
Since the 17th century the rulers refused western ways. Because of that they have fallen behind in technology. Late 1800’s they had started trading opium, they tried to stop imports of the drug. 1839 the british fought with the chinese in the opium war, britain’s superior and strength led to a victory.
Treaty of Nanjing. 1842 britain forced China to agree to the terms of the treaty, china had to pay for britain’s war cost, open ports for british trades, and give britain the island of Hong Kong. Western powers carved the spheres of influence, they are area in which outside power claimed exclusive trade involved build roads, railroads, factories.
Reaction to Imperialism. The Taiping Rebellion, lasted from 1850 - 1864 peasants revolted against Qing officials. Boxer Rebellion. In 1900 the group the boxers assaulted communities across China. Armies from the west and Japan destroyed the rebellion and forced the chinese to give even more influence in China.
WWII. The civil war ceased to fight the Japanese forces. The communist and Nationalist fight against the Japanese. Then the Civil war continued.
The Cultural Revolution. 1966, Mao wanted to renew peoples loyalty to communism. Mao feared people may try to overthrow it, schools and universities were shut down. Students formed groups of fighters, they attacked professors, government officials, and factory managers.
Mao died in 1976 and Deng Xiaoping took power, brought more economic freedom but political change.
Deng’s Four Modernizations, Deng promoted foreign trade. He introduced the four modernizations, Farming - Modernize and Mechaniz.
Industry - Upgrade and expand.
Science and Technology - Encouraged development.
Defense - improve military forces.
Deng got rid of the communes, he allowed lang to be leased to individual farmers. After giving some food to the government the farmers could sell it for a profit, Private businesses were allowed to produce goods.
Tiananmen Square, Chinese government was willing to grant economic reforms. Unwilling to make any political reforms though, May 1989. Demanding more rights, they refused to disperse as ordered. Thousands were killed.
China has been having a downfall since day 1, they start battles they can’t win. They produce a ton of produce and do not sell it, they keep it for themselves, they have a lot of problems with other countries. They need to get back on track because going to the right of the track was a bad idea for them, if they were to stop communism and have a different political choice we would probably help them.
Hopefully they will accept our help, and we can become allies later on then no one would have any chance compared to our military. The odds of us becoming allies with China is very low because they do not enjoy our presence anywhere near them. If we don’t do something about China I have a feeling they will come over here and attack us, if they were to attack us. They would have a very good chance of destroying our military because theres is a lot bigger then ours.
That is my opinion on the Tiananmen square movement.

Justification on Dalits.
From what I saw from the video, they seemed to just not care. Or at least not show any emotion to the fact that they are treated like dirt. Like when the little girl said "I clean poop all day!" And she seemed so happy, but it is really sad. She grew up knowing, all of the kids above her cannot touch her, walking in her house anything. Its really sad, maybe one day someone will speak up in india and change it.

Sources of Tension!

Middle East: Sources of Tension

Todd Bautista

What sources of tension, new and old are going on in the Middle East?
Algerza of the middle east.
One of the sources of tension is the fighting. Another source of tension is the U.S and Algerza. A lot of murder in the middle east is also another source of tension. We have the ability to stop the amount of crimes that happen, the rebels are the ones that started the uprising. As long as the rebels were going to win the U.S was happy. All they want is Quafadila to be gone. Shootings have been placed in Bengazi. Bengazi is safe, but not very, very safe. They were arrested by the rebels because of spying. Rebels liberated the town, but most of the town people didn’t return. Not much of a military as a rebel, they are recruiting new people to help keep under control. Libya sent more people to kill U.S people. Spend more then a billion into missiles, now there staying on the down low. The price grew more then 25$ a can. Willing to take a risk to get sued. Every time a tanker comes in, they have tanker watchers. Natural flow of oil, a oil area is now under control of the rebels. Bullets are firing outside of the oil company, security is very tight. The economy minister produces 100,000 oil to make a little of money. They wanted to make sure what they were doing before they engaged, “As Chuchhill once said. Once you start a war, you will never know how it ends”.

I think we shouldn’t be involved in the war. I understand about the oil but, why the war? Thats the big question, why the war? We get involved in the war just because we want to show Dominance.

3.Does this country have a fresh water supply?
I wouldn't say "fresh" water. What they have is mostly filled with dirt, most of the country's money goes towards the military of there's. Yes it has a seaport, where they ship back weapons and food. They have some rivers, and lakes but other then that no.

4.What industries does the country support?
The industries that they support are the U.S, Russia, Asia, Europe. They all want the oil resource. That they have so much of.

It is facing a war, which is not working out for them. They also lost there leader, and they needed a leader then. Now that there leader is gone they are even more in debt.

World studies

1. What questions do you have about the reading? How might they be answered?  The questions I have about the reading is why is the reason behind the terrorist attacks? and why don't Brennan and Obama know or avoided the question?  They could be answered by looking further on the internet to find answers.

2. What is President Obama's answer? Brennan's? President Obama and Brennan's answer was they were just explaining what Al Qaeda was and how the associate Islam with their purposes.

3. Thomas was clearly dissatisfied with Brennan's answer. Why? Would she have been satisfied with the president's? Why or why not?  Thomas was not satisfied with Brennan's answer because he was avoiding the question.  She wouldn't have been satisfied with the president's answer because he seemed to have the same views on the topic as Brennan this is what I think she thought.

4. Why does Glenn Greenwald think it important to consider terrorist motivations? Do you agree? Why or why not?  Glenn Greenwald thinks this is important because then you acknowledge that their intents are legitimate and you can understand how to deal with it. It is better to understand then just going in and trying to solve the problem.

5. How would you answer Thomas' question, "Why?" Why do Hasan, Abdulmutallab, and others commit such acts?? If you need more reliable information, where might you find it?  Hasan, Abdulmutallab, and other commit such acts because America supports Israel.  If I needed more reliable information, I might find it on the internet.

1. What questions do you have about the reading? How might they be answered?
Why don't we handle this on our own? Us simply thinking on our own

2. What U.S. policies do most Muslims hate and why? If you need more information, how might you find it?
U.S policies most Muslims hate is the stance that we have taken in then Israel conflict. Israel has moved Palestinian into refuge camp.

3. Why might acknowledging that U.S. policies have anything to do with jihadist attacks be seen as "politically incorrect" and "blaming the victim"?
Acknowledging that U.S policies have anything to do with jihadist attacks be seen as "politically incorrect" and "blaming the victim" by the fact that Israelis have caused death of the Palestinian people. If we blamed the Palestinians for getting back what was lost they would see it as the United States taking Israelis side and blame the Palestinian people for it.

4. Despite a year of effort by Obama's special envoy George Mitchell to move the Israelis and Palestinians toward a negotiated two-state solution, there's been no visible progress. Why not? If you need more information, how might you find it?
There has been no visible progress to the two state solution because Palestinians feel that favors Israelis. Also Israelis had attacked Gaza by ordering a bomb attack on them killing alot of people of Gaza and many Palestinians.

5. How and why are the people of Gaza suffering? If you need more information, how might you find it? The Gaza people are suffering because of the treatment of Israel to them the attacks Israel put on them.

1.What questions do you have about the reading? How might they be answered?

What would they be doing if we weren't involved? It could be answered by people simply thinking

2. Years have passed since President Bush's comments. What knowledge and evidence do you have to support, add to, amend, or oppose his explanation for terrorist acts? Why might jihads want to overthrow certain Muslim governments? Drive Israel out of the Middle East? If you don't know how might you find out?

The stuff I have to support the terrorist attacks are that Al Qaeda hate us because we do stand in their way for Al Qaeda to take over and rule all of the other countries.

3. Even more years have passed since Bin Laden's harsh critique of the United States. What knowledge and evidence do you have to support, add to, amend, or oppose that critique.
My evidence that I have to support his opinion against the United States is that we attacked his country and or holy land that they base everything from their religion to beliefs around. We support Israel and they don't like us because of that.

4. According to Wright, what has led young men in Arab countries to find martyrdom attractive?
According to Wright what has led the young men in Arab countries to find martyrdom attractive is by giving them nothing to do and only hearing about the war and how horrible Americans are. Martyrdom in Arab countries also make life very easy and has alot of benefits.

5. According to polling in Muslim countries, how popular is Al Qaeda? Why?
According to polling in Muslim countries, many people are disapproving and not agreeing with Al Qaeda. This is because he's taken the lives of many Muslims and Infidels.
